From A to Z and Backwards with New Bally Alphabet

An abstract interpretation of forms and objects always makes everything more fun. Especially when it is connected with certain occasions and bring a meaning behind it. An illustrated alphabet by Bally is telling different stories literally in each letter.

A compositional alphabet is honoring the unexpected anecdotes and unique tales that have shaped the DNA of Swiss luxury house from 1851 to present days. The art of creation can be transformed into everything and in every way. Amusing but filled with a meaning, a look of each letter traces the brand’s heritage, whether a tender origin story between founder Carl Franz Bally and his wife Cecyle, or “C”, to the handmade wonder of the Bally Scribe men’s dress shoe, or “S”, which takes over 240 artisanal techniques to complete.

A team of five different artists with five different visions has created their own worlds and put them in twenty-seven letters in the Bally A-Z alphabet. Brooklyn-based illustrator Abbey Lossing, Swiss duo Nina Wehrle and Evelyne Laube, Baltimore-based George Wylesol, American-born visual artist Bryce Wymer and Dutch cartoonist Lennard Kok explore Bally stories through their distinct and respective styles.

Celebrating their 170th anniversary in 2021, Bally invites you to see the fundamental elements of the Bally brand, with new letters released on their official Instagram every week beginning Wednesday, 17 June.
