Dior: The Savoir-Faire of the Gem Clutch
To say that Christian Dior loved flowers would be an understatement. His love of nature accompanied the fashion designer throughout his life and inspired some of his most legendary designs, including the revolutionary New Look with its undulating curves of the "corolla" (the term corolla refers to a whorl of petals). Even today, flowers still inspire the Maison, especially roses, which were Monsieur Dior's absolute favourites. This can also be seen in the Gem Clutch, where the rose - even in diamonds - comes first.
Handcrafted from emerald green satin, the clutch is adorned with a sparkling gemstone flower in the style of the Rose Dior Bagatelle series. Named after the Parc de Bagatelle in Paris, where 1,200 varieties of flowers thrive, the Rose Dior Bagatelle uses a "two pearl" technique to enhance the brilliance of the gemstones used. The result is truly exceptional.
This minaudière in green satin is carefully handcrafted in the Dior studios and celebrates the art of detail and the exceptional craftsmanship of the house. Dior has now documented the creation process of its Gem Clutch, allowing us to take a look behind the scenes.
