The “Reine de Naples 8918” By Breguet
Noble origin
It was none other than the Queen of Naples, Caroline Murat, Napoleon Bonaparte’s youngest sister, who commissioned the design of the world’s first wristwatch from her favourite watchmaker. The elegantly crafted creation with its elongated case and guilloché decoration on the silver dial could also be worn on the wrist by means of a bracelet made of interwoven gold threads.
Long reign
Since the first design in 1810, the timeless design has established itself as a classic and has lost nothing of its elegance and attitude over the years. It is driven by an automatic manufacture calibre 537/3, which has a power reserve of 45 hours. In 2020, the “Reine de Naples 8918” is presented in 18-carat white gold, the bezel is set with 117 diamonds, and even the folding clasp of the sky-blue alligator-skin strap features another 28 diamonds.
The crowning innovation
We are particularly proud of the new dial in grand feu enamel, a sophisticated manufacturing process in which enamel powder is melted on the dial at over 800°C using a special technique. The blue numerals and the brand’s lettering stand out stylishly in blue against the radiant white background. An equally contemporary and elegant renewal that would look good on the wrist of many modern female monarchs.
