Sissi West: Vienna's newest tasteful Boutique Hotel close to Schönbrunn
"Innovation hub, boutique seminar hotel with flats for short and long-term stays": Those who leave Vienna usually speed along Hadikgasse towards the Wienerwald. However, word has yet to get around that there is a new design jewel at number 68. But that won't take long, given the concept that interior designer Andreea Cebuc of C'est Design Studio has implemented for it.
What can unite everything in a hotel? A lot! The fact that hotels are redefining themselves when they are created for design-savvy target groups can be seen in the hip example of "Superbude", which opened in 2020 in Vienna with Neni am Prater.
A co-working space is quickly combined with a lobby, which can also be quickly converted into a space for panel discussions. Sissi West has followed a similar path and has become a place that accommodates event space, a - yes! - co-working space, a studio (which hosts various artists on a temporary basis) an innovation hub and a boutique seminar hotel with flats for short and long-term stays.
The AVIANO Group behind it realised this in collaboration with C'est Design Studio, transforming old walls for the purpose. The villa at Hadikgasse 68, built in 1870, has been almost entirely preserved in its classical appearance. Only the interior no longer reminds us that the building dates back to a time when hoop skirts and corsets were still en vogue.
"The villa is a showroom that you can touch, feel, experience and, above all, shop," says C'est Design Studio owner Andreea Cebuc, who wants to dedicate a place to guests that will be remembered. "Whether it's the good-smelling soap that reminds us of our holiday or the super beautiful lamp that would also feel at home on our bedside table," the uniqueness should remain tangible in every facet, says Cebuc. In a world where chain hotels - even in the luxury segment - like to adorn themselves with local colour in order to remain distinguishable, this is more credible for a boutique hotel.
Selected themes were reinterpreted together with their lifestyle concepts and integrated into the detailed design. The rooms are intended to become a "sequence of experiences". And as such, they are dedicated to different metropolitan styles: Copenhagen, Vienna or Miami.
As a creative location, Sissi West also offers individual packages for renting the entire property in combination with the seminar room and the gardens with pool. This is ideal, for example, for a private get-together with an internationally scattered family, corporate events - or for an intimate, small wedding.
